The Will of OBADIAH BABER, of Kentucky,
dated 28th
September, 1815.
In the name of God, Amen, I OBADIAH BABER being in reasonable health of
body and of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, calling unto
mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men,
once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to
say as touching such worldly state wherewith it hath pleased God to bless
me in this life. First of all my desire is that my beloved wife HANNAH
(MARTIN) BABER should have a comfortable maintenance out of my estate or my
meaning is that she should go by the counsils of our sons ISHAM BABER and
JOHN BABER during of my natural life and should she be satisfied after my
death it may or shall continue. Secondly I give unto my son THOMAS BABER
after my decease the land on which we now live and also any horse that he
may chose out of my stock of horses. Thirdly I have given unto my son JOHN
BABER a bay filly the last foal of the mare old Jewel. Fourthly I wish
that THOMAS BABER and JOHN BABER my sons to have an equal proportion of my
stock and household furniture with them that hath had heretofore and after
my just debts are paid the residue to be equally divided amongst them all.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of
September in the year of our Lord God 1815 or one thousand eight hundred
